That Kind of Guy

Act 1, Scene 1.

SCENE 1. Saturday night, Seth's couch. Golf plays in the background, we are both using our computers.

JACY: (sarcastically but with a little bit of seriousness) If we get married, will you react like this?

SETH: (shaking his head, laughing) Uh, sorry babe... not that kind of guy.

We both laugh. I keep cruising through Pinterest while he does homework. It's silent for a minute or two.

SETH: But, I AM the kind of guy who wants to take care of you and Little Dude and build a happy life with you.

JACY: (smiles and thinks to herself  'I like that you are that kind of guy Seth... I feel so lucky to have you...')

**Out of curiosity's sake, did any of your husbands tear-up on your wedding day? Or have a reaction like this when he saw you? I think this picture is about the sweetest thing I've ever seen :)

  1. Funny story actually. I thought that my husband would tear up a little (not like this guy, yes, I agree LOVE this picture). But my first part of traditional weddings is watching the groom's face when the bride comes down the aisle. Since I'm LDS and was getting married in the temple, I wanted to still get that moment. And I thought we'd both cry and it would be amazing. I arranged to have "first glance" pictures taken at the hotel where I got ready before we left for the temple. It was just plain awkward. For starters, my mom and best friend stayed to watch and I didn't have the heart to ask them to leave. We took the pictures in the lobby of a hotel so they sat in chairs while my husband and I saw each other for the first time. It made for some not very good pictures. I don't like them. I was honestly really disappointed about the whole experience. Darn it! But I know how he looked at me during the ceremony, even if I don't have a picture to capture it. This post made me laugh because it's a cute little exchange between the two of you.

  2. We took first look photos and they were so sweet. We both cried during the ceremony, but not the first see.

That photo made me giggle and it sounds like you have a keeper :)

  3. aww i love this story! yes, surprisingly he did during his vows. he didn't during the first look, but he did choke up big time during the vows. he's a "manly man" and NEVER cries so i was so surprised - but honestly it made it that much sweeter to me. :) love this post, jacy and i love that seth makes you so happy! you deserve it!!

  4. You'd be surprised by the reaction of even the toughest guys. My husband and I got married in the little chapel at the courthouse, so I didn't really think we'd have a moment like the one above. There was no walking down the isle or big fluffy dress, but when it came time to exchange vows... it was ON! He almost didn't finished he was so choked up.

  5. actually, my husband didn't cry when he saw me, neither of us cried at all during the wedding! lots of things were, apparently, going wrong and i even forgot to carry my bouquet down the isle, be we were all grins the whole day! i thought we'd both cry (we're both really sentimental), but we were just super giddy and happy. i even messed up, forgetting what the minister had asked me to repeat after him- mid-sentence!- because i was too busy smiling at him to pay attention! best day ever! (except that i was completely horribly sick for that night and our whole honeymoon!)

  6. Ahhh...that picture is so sweet! Brian and I decided to see each other first since we were doing pictures first. We have some cute shots of the moment (in my wedding fb album ;) He didn't cry. But he looked almost speechless. Like the first time I successfully made homemade bread. I was too excited to cry that day! But I made up for it! I am such a crier! Hope you had a great fourth!

  7. No, but I had only seen him cry once before that, when we almost broke up. I thought maybe he was just a "sad" crier. But then my daughter was born. He wept for 24 hour straight. :) That was the sweetest thing I've ever seen.

  9. this post actually makes me laugh...a lot. i tease my husband that he is the most stoic person on earth, because i have never seen him cry. ever. and i still rib him about it - that he didn't tear up when we got married or when our daughter was born. his response? "why would i cry when both experiences were just so plain awesome?" dang him & his logic. i guess not every guy (or girl, for that matter) is one to cry at happy occasions. (well, that, and i cry enough for the both of us!)

love your blog. it makes me happy, just so you know. :) keep up the good work!

  10. no. he's not "that kind of guy" either. he looked like he was going to puke, actually. hahaha.

i have always loved how emtionally strong of a man my husband is. he's a rock. and he only gets emotional when he's feared losing me. not gaining me. i think i understand that. i guess i'm saying, he doesn't cry when he's happy. only when he's very very worried or upset. he's only cried 2 times in our entire 7 years of marriage. one time because he thought i was dead. that's just the "Kind of guy" he is.

    i can deal with that.

  11. That is cute. My husband didn't react like that but we both teared up during our sealing (ceremony). It was super special and got to us both emotionally :) it was cute.

  13. Rhett is definitely not that kind of guy, which is totally fine. We have talked about our wedding day and I asked him if he was nervous or anything. We both said it was the most calm feeling we had that day, like finally we are getting married! I have seen him cry tears of joy, when our kids were born. Both times we have looked at each other and our baby and cried so much! I'll never forget any of these moments. I love this post! Seth sounds awesome, I am so happy for you! This made me think about moments I haven't thought about for a while, thank you!

  14. Nope, my husband never teared up. He's not a teary kind of guy for the most part. He does occasionally tear up when we talk about how our parents are getting old.
