Date Night

Last night I treated the "man- friend" to his favorite place in the world: A MUSICAL!

The Scarlet Pimpernel to be exact ;)

Alright, so it's not the first activity he'd choose to be doing on a Friday night, BUT I think he enjoyed the show. But I'm not so sure what he got a kick out of more- the actual play OR seeing me out of his peripheral, totally sucked into the romance, lip-syncing every line to every song. I knew I was busted when he leaned over and whispered into my ear,

"I get it now... I totally get why you..."

He needn't say another word. I knew exactly what he was thinking and we both busted up laughing (a quiet laugh of course).

"It's all coming full circle now" he said with a cheesy grin on his face.

Good. Now he can FINALLY see where and why I conjure up all my hopeless romantic stuff. What can I say!? I am a drama nerd at heart and I LUFF me a little sappy romance :)

Do you like Musical Theatre? Will your spouse/significant other go with you? NAME YOUR TOP 5 BROADWAY SHOWS! GO!

I'll start by sharing mine- in no particular order...  (gosh, this is HARD... I don't know if I can actually label these as my top... I have too many I love :)

1) The Full Monty
2) Aida
3) Les Miserable
4) Anything Goes
5) Starlight Express

P.S. If you haven't seen the 1982 non-musical version of The Scarlet Pimpernel, DO! It is sooooooo good :)

  1. I love Musicals!!! Some of my faves include Hairspray, West side story and the music man!! :)

  2. Chicago on Broadway. Someday....

Glad that you had a fab time!

  3. Thanks for coming with us - it was fun! It's hard to choose just five, but some of my all-time favorites - can listen to the soundtracks over and over - are: Chess, Evita, Hair, Les Miserables, & Rent. There's so many others that I love though! Jekyll & Hyde, Spring Awakening, Phantom, Aida, etc, etc, etc!!! :)

  4. I used to dance around my room to A Chorus Line on 8 track tape. Bad words and all! I also love Chicago and hairspray

  5. So fun! Our good friend that lived above us in Orem is one of the stars in that show...somewhere up in Davis County right now. I'm betting its the same one you saw! I'll have to watch that show...I've never seen it.
    Aida is my all-time fave!

    1. YES! Davis County it was... it was SO GOOD! Who was she? Do you know?

  6. I LIVE FOR MUSICALS! My top 5- 1. Singin' in the Rain. 2. Wicked 3. Sound of Music 4. Les Miserables 5. Moulin Rouge (I know this is a movie, not theater, but I would spend an absurd amount of money to see Ewan McGregor singing those songs live!)

    1. I LUFF WICKED and I LOVE MOULIN ROUGE! Ewan... sign... :)

  7. We love musicals! My husband even loves to watch a few (Phantom of the Opera, Le Mis...) and I love Thoroughly Modern Mille, My Fair Lady, Oklahoma, Lil' Abner, and Bye, Bye Birdie.

And I just love the non-musical Scarlet Pimpernel. It's so great in so many ways!
"Then the tailors would rule the land, and no one would make the clothes. So much. for. French. Fashion."

    1. Thoroughly Modern.... YES!!!!!!!!!! And Bye Bye Birdie! I KNOW EVERY SONG! That is a fav too... Love it.

French Fashion... HA! Percy is SO good in that show :)
